Alan Partridge, Norwich’s very own celebrity super-star, was brought to life in spectacular fashion earlier this month as he took over the switching-on of the Christmas Lights in Norwich. In what has been described as “the biggest event in Norwich since the refurbishment of the Norwich Castle Museum”, Partridge was illuminated in an epic light display in front of a host of Suffolk locals – climaxing in awesome fashion with a fireworks display and lasers being shot from Alan’s eyes, projecting massive 20m images of Alan dancing.
This awesome stunt was created to promote the release of Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa on Blinkbox and was masterminded by Taylor Herring PR: achieving widespread coverage in national, regional and broadcast media, not to mention leaving a lasting impression on the thousands of attendees. James Herring, Owner of Taylor Herring PR, said of the spectacular display “It was only fitting to return to Alan’s spiritual home of Norwich to celebrate the launch of Alpha Papa and the amazing success of the Partridge franchise this year”.
Unfortunately, Alan wasn’t in attendance, but he did get co-star Simon Greenall to pass on a message to his adoring fans, boasting: “You’re about to witness the biggest turning on of lights since the end of the three-day week. The electricity used to power the illuminations is enough to run a trouser press for over 25 years.”
